Units of Measurement

Measurement type defines the metric system of the data that is entered and which could be used to convert the data entered from one metric system to another.

For example: there is a number type question. As an answer, a doctor from the European part enters the height in cm as a unit of measurement, while doctor from the USA enters the data in feet. In this case, the measurement type will be the same for two designations (height), but the units are different. This will allow you to correlate the data and recalculate them in the future.

Display & Localization

A patient is able to see units of measurement only during survey completion process. Number type questions should be included and activated in protocol before creating a case.

If localized suffix isn’t translated and set up, then the default English value would be presented.

An investigator is able to see units of measurement on:

1) Case Detail page - in any survey containing number type question (localized suffix);

2) exported files from Circle Details and Report Builder pages – on Legends tab (unit's name is to the right from question's name – English only).

If the profile language is different from default English, the exported file will be in English.

An inCytes™ administrator is able to see units on:

  1. Unit Overview page - measurement type, name and suffix are displayed in English;
  2. Unit Details page - name and suffix are displayed in the language of currently selected language tab;
  3. Survey Detail page - suffix is displayed in English for any selected language tab (it's a bug);
  4. Bundle Detail page - suffix is displayed in English for any selected language tab (it's a bug).

Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

1. How to get the missing measurement types?‍

Contact the QA team about the amount you want to add. Usually, the measurement type and name are written with an uppercase letter. The suffix could be written with both uppercase and lowercase letters.

2. What should I do if I made changes, clicked save, and the changes were not saved

Try to refresh the page.

3. What should I do if I switched to another language tab for a specific unit of measurement, but nothing has changed

Try to refresh the page, if it doesn't help - contact the QA team

4. Will it be a problem when I am creating two identical types of units of measurement – mass-, one is kilograms in the name, the second is kilogramms

Yes, it will. If you create number questions and try to search for the required measurement type (mass) in the future, you will face the problem of choosing the correct option. Contact the Dev team to help you remove the wrong option.
